Visitors can learn the, history, culture, and fundamentals of Bonsai
Our half hour introductory lesson explores the history of bonsai and our garden, the culture and philosophy of bonsai, as well as the basic fundamentals of bonsai care. There will be time for questions and visitors are free to explore the garden afterwards. Attendees will receive a complimentary gift of their own bonsai pot.

藤川光華園とは
藤川光華園は、1950年に初代、藤川實が始めた大阪府池田市にある盆栽専門店です。現在は２代目園主藤川敬一が運営しています。近年盆栽が海外で人気ということもあり、数多くの外国人観光客が訪れる観光スポットにもなっています。当園にどのような盆栽があるかをご覧になりたい方は、ネットショップから見て頂くことが出来ます。また、このサイトに使われてる写真は全て当園の盆栽です。
Fujikawa Kouka-en is a bonsai specialty store in Ikeda City, Osaka Prefecture, started in 1950 by the first owner, Minoru Fujikawa. It is currently run by Keiichi Fujikawa, the second generation owner. In recent years, bonsai has become popular overseas, and the garden has become a tourist spot visited by many foreign tourists. If you would like to see what kind of bonsai we have in our garden, you can visit our online store. Also, all the photos used in this site are of our bonsai.
盆栽について
The art of bonsai is well known and admired across the world. From its roots in Japan and China, bonsai has rapidly spread to become an iconic form of living Japanese tradition.
Although popular images of bonsai include the pine and juniper, there are endless varieties of plants that can be trained as bonsai. Flowering species such as apricot and cherry give a striking contrast between the old craggy bark and young vibrant flowers. Deciduous varieties such as maples and hornbeams that put on as spectacular autumnal display, are often used for bonsai as well. Bonsai can be viewed and appreciated in all four seasons.
There are also many outstanding and powerful specimens, whose age exceed decades to centuries. The centennial status imposes a powerful presence that leaves us in awe in front of these ancient and beautiful bonsai masterpieces.

その美しさは松を代表とする常に緑を保ち縁起が良いとされる『松柏類』。その他にも花姿や実のなる様、また紅葉まで四季折々の美しさを鑑賞できる『雑木類』など、何十年ともすれば何百年という時代を経て生まれた盆栽のひとつひとつが、樹形などの個性とあいまって多種多様な小宇宙を築きます。
そんな盆栽のある周囲の空間は一種のパワースポットといっても過言ではありません。
